Bernard Heet

November 21, 1926 — August 28, 2015

Bernard H. “Whitie” Heet, age 88, of Liberty Township, passed away 1:05 AM Friday, August 28, 2015 at Westover where he has been a patient for the past eight months. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio, on November 21, 1926, the sixth of seven childred born to Joseph and Elizabeth (Herndon) Heet. Whitie attended St. Stephen Grade School and was a 1945 graduate of Hamilton Catholic High School. He served His country with honor during WW II as a Sergeant in the Army Air Force -71st AAF BU 104th Weather Group. He was employed at Baldwin Lima Hamilton Corp from 1947 – 1960 and at the Mosler Safe Co. until retiring in 1985 as Data Processing Manager. On June 23, 1951, in St. Mary Church, with his brother, Rev. Alan Heet O.F.M. officiating, he was united in marriage to Betty L. Brehm. Whitie enjoyed playing ball with both shop and church leagues, golf and bowling. He served as coach for his son’s baseball and basketball teams. He also enjoyed time spent in Daytona Beach , Florida. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Betty L. Heet; son, Joe (Pam) Heet of Lexington; three daughters, Connie (Doug) Cullen of Charlotte NC, Kathy (Steve) Bartram of Marco Island, FL and Nancy (Bob) Mauro of Liberty Township; ten grandchildren, Beth Glasmeier Bisig and children, Andrew, Blake and Dylan Bisig of Suwanee, GA, Susan Glasmeier (Chris) Wood and children, Sophie, Charlie and Lucy Wood, Kim Kiley Brown (Jason) and children, Carter and Kensie of Dublin, OH, Kari Kiley of Columbus, OH, Patrick Kiley and Kevin Kiley of Fairfield, OH, Adam Lawall, Jenna and Jaclyn Mauro of Liberty Township, Stephen Heet (Whitney) and son Wiley of Lexington; brother, George Heet of AZ; nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Rev.Alan Heet O.F.M., Betty Brickner (Richard), Elma Truster (Warren) Rita Heet and Bill Heet (Virginia). Visitation will be 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Colligan Funeral Home and Monday, August 31, 2015 at St. Julie Billiart Church from 9:30 AM – 10:15 followed by Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will Military Honors in St. Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Julie Billiart Church, 224 Dayton Street, Hamilton, Ohio 45011.
