Charles Butterfield

Charles R. Butterfield, age 77, of Hamilton, passed away Monday, August 28, 2017. Charlie was the son of Ralph and Jewel (Marsh) Butterfield. He attended Hamilton High School, enlisted in the Coast Guard for two years, enlisted in the U S Navy where he became a Hospital Corpsman, served two terms in Viet Nam and retired from the U S Navy in 1978 after 20 years of service. On October 29, 1960, he was united in marriage to Kay Kearney and to this union three children were born. Kay preceded him in death on January 13, 2001. Charlie is survived by his wife, Mary Ann (Tendam) Messal Butterfield who he married November 24, 2001; three children, Julie, Sherri and Mark; grandchildren; three devoted nieces, Michaelina, Ciji and Caroline; great nieces and nephews; brother, Wendell and two sisters, Karen and Mary. Visitation will be at the Colligan Funeral Home on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 10:00 AM til time of service at noon. The family wishes to thank Hospice of Southwest Ohio, especially Janet, Tabitha and Chaplain Tom.
