David Schmidtz

Schmidtz, David W., age 58, of Amelia, formerly of Hamilton, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2009. He was born, in Hamilton, on May 13,1951, the son of George F. and Marian (Tabler) Schmidtz. Dave was a 1969 graduate of Badin High School and had attended the Cincinnati Academy of Art. He was President and active in the German Village Society. Dave was an avid reader, he loved travelling to Mexico, Italy, and the Yucatan to visit the ancient ruins and other places of historical signifance. He was an opera buff who enjoyed classical music and spent many hours building minature houses and then furnishing them. Survived by his mother, Marian A. Schmidtz; two brothers, Daniel (Karen) Schmidtz and Kevin (Rebecca) Schmidtz; three nephews, Adam (Michelle) Schmidtz, Michael (Tonya) Schmidtz and Ryan Schmidtz; one niece, Amy Rooney; four great nephews, Erich, Logan and Austin Schmidtz and Maxwell Rooney and four great nieces, Haley and Abigail Schmidtz and Megan and Madelyn Rooney. Preceded in death by his father, George F. Schmidtz, his partner, Jay Depenbrock and two nephews, Andrew and Erin Schmidtz. The family wishes to entend a special thank you to Dr. Francis Dumont and Dr. Katie Dumont. Visitation will be Friday at St. Julie Billiart Church Hamilton from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM . A Memorial Mass will follow at 10:00 AM. Burial in St. Stephen Cemetery.
