Dorothy Boggs

July 21, 1931 — June 24, 2018

Dorothy M. Boggs, “Dottie” to those who knew her, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2018 in Whitefish, Montana peacefully with family by her side. Born in Seven Mile and raised on the family farm, Dottie went to the “big city” of Hamilton after school to work at Lowenstein’s Furniture. There she met a handsome salesman who she married. Later, she returned to work this time at Hamilton Lumber until they closed their doors. She had a full life married to Stan, raising their family of five children and being an active member in her commumity. Her family has many fond memories of her creative and fun loving nature. Dottie’s passions were singing and writing which she did as a member of The Harmonettes singing both with the group and as part of a quartet. She put her eloquent writing skills to use in their newsletter. Dottie was also a member of St. Peter in Chains Church choir. She had a strong faith in God, an affinity for the Blessed Virgin and walked daily with Jesus which surely was the source of her strength and peaceful nature. Stan and Dottie enjoyed summers RV-ing with close friends and fellow members of the Knights of Columbus. She was a member of the Women’s Knightsof Columbus Auxillary. She will be remembered as having a warm smile and only kind words. Dottie was preceded in death by her husband, Stan and youngest son, David. She is survived by her children, Larry Boggs, Kathy Gallagher, Ed Boggs and Bill Boggs; her beloved grandchildren, David Boggs, Skylar Boggs, Westly Boggs and Ridge Gallagher; many extended family members and Lisa Baum and Margery Fox who are like family to her. Please join the family at the Colligan Funeral Home Monday, July 9th, 6.pm. – 7 p.m. for a visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, July 10th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church. Burial in St. Stephen Cemetery. If there’s a piece of Heaven that looks like Hamilton, that’s where Dottie is!
