Dorothy Grathwohl

GRATHWOHL, Dorothy M., age 85, of Hamilton, passed away, Sunday, May 17, 2009 at Fort Hamilton Hospital. The daughter of Jacob and Mary Ann (Stutz) Wertz, she was born in Hamilton on January 20, 1924. Dorothy was a 1942 graduate of Hamilton High School. She was employed at Kroger’s for a number of years and later was employed by the Talawanda School District until her retirement. On February 23, 1946, she was united in marriage to Donald B. Grathwohl and to this union six children were born. Survivors include her children: Ruth (Joseph) Stanton, Donna (Richard) Mardis, Mary (Thomas) Brunner, Jean (Ronald) King and Midge (Ben) Morse; daughter-in-law, Jo Grathwohl; eight grandchildren, Chris Mardis, Michelle Mardis, Julie Brunner Hoke, Tiffany Brunner, Nicholas King, Heather Allred, Amy Staley and Ben “Bud” Morse and eight great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Virginia Wertz and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 56 years, Don Grathwohl; son, James Grathwohl; brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be conducted at the Colligan Funeral Home, 437 S. 3rd Street, Hamilton at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 21, 2009 with Pastor Jodie McFarland officiating. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
