Edith Bacher

BACHER,
Edith M. “Edie or Granny” (Solazzo) age 85, of Fairfield, passed away on Jan. 5, 2011 at Kettering Memorial Hospital. She was born in Hamilton to the late Frank and Maria (DiGionni) Solazzo. Edith graduated from Fairfield
High School in 1944. She was Fairfield High’s first “Football Queen”. She worked at Wright’s (Later GE) in Evendale during the war. She married her high school sweetheart, the late Raymond Bacher on May 3, 1947. They owned & operated Ramondo’s Lounge for 31 years. Edith always enjoyed making all the Italian dishes at the restaurant and helping host many family get-togethers. In her free time she enjoyed making wedding cakes from her home. In the summer months you could always find her and Ray at Brookville Lake, Indiana fishing. Edith was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan and enjoyed watching the Bengals. She was a wonderful mother to Steven (Irene) Bacher and the late Diana Marie (1955); a dear grandmother to Angela Bacher and the late Brandon (2004) Bacher; a fun great-grandma to Kendrick & Thaine; a loving sister to Virginia Campbell, Mickey Palmieri, Francis (Jim) Marshall, the late Mary Mitrione, the late Lena Parrish, the late Carl Solazzo and Dick Solazzo; a special aunt to many nieces and nephews; a great friend and cook to all that knew her. Visitation will be held Monday, Jan. 10, 2011 from 5 to 8 PM at Colligan Funeral Home, 437 S. 3rd Street, Hamilton, OH.Prayer service Tuesday 9:15 AM at the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 400 Nilles Road, Fairfield, OH 45014. Burial to follow at St. Stephen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to American Heart Association in memory of Edith and Brandon.
