Eugene Truster

Eugene E. Truster, age 87, of Somerville, OH died June 9, 2009 at Fort Hamilton Hospital. He was born in Hamilton, January 15, 1922, son of Earl and Edna May (Smith) Truster. He graduated from West Elkton High School in 1941. After graduation he worked for Niles Machine shop in Hamilton, OH. He entered the United States Navy in 1942 and was stationed on the USS Caston, a supply ship, as a Navy Rank Coxswain, during WWII and discharged in 1945. He returned to farming until he retired in 2000. He married Rita E. Menchen in 1949 at St. Ann’s Church Parsonage. Rita preceded him in death in 2007. He leaves behind two daughters: Carolyn L. Truster and Mary L (Bruce) Hubbard; four sons: Gerald E. Truster, James A. (Patricia) Truster, Robert E. (Donna Jean) Truster and Steven M. (Anna) Truster; 7 grandchildren: Gregory A. (Norrenna) Hubbard, William E. Hubbard, Valerie M. Truster, Timothy J. Truster, Andrew S. Truster, Logan M. Truster and Emma G. Truster; three Step-grandchildren, Brian J. (Julie) Budd, Bridget F (David) Marmalejo, and Samuel J. (Angie) Budd; brother Donald L. Truster, brother-in-law Jasper Cassidy and nine nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters: Carol L Alvey, Patricia M. Cassidy, brother Kent E. Truster, brother-in-law Clyde Alvey, sister-in-law Maxine Truster, Grandson Michael E. Truster, nephews: David Alvey and Frank Truster, and a niece Donna Jean Truster. The family would like to thank Fort Hamilton Hospital’s doctors and staff and Dr. Gregory Savage M.D. for all of their care for Eugene. Visitation will be Saturday, June 13, 2009 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Colligan Funeral Home, 437 South 3rd Street, Hamilton, OH. Prayer services will follow the visitation at 10:30 AM. Military burial will follow at Butler County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Gardens Animal Enrichment Fund, in memory of Eugene E. Truster 3900 Vine Street, Cincinnati, OH 45220.
