James L. “Pop” O’Hara Sr., age 91 of Hamilton, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014 . He was born in Hamilton on March 10, 1923, the son of William and Lillian (Denzler) O’Hara. T-5 O’Hara, U S Army served His country with honor from January 30, 1943 to December 12, 1945. He was engaged in battles and campaigns including Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Service Medal, EAME Theater Service Medal with 5 Bronze Stars and the Victory Medal. On January 25, 1947, he was united in marriage to Naomi A. “Shug” Wolke. He retired from Mosler Safe in 1985. Jim was a life time member of the Moose Lodge #36 in Hamilton. He loved sports, music, dancing, gambling and family get togethers.Survivors include three children, Terry (Diana) O’Hara, Jim (Debbie) O’Hara and Connie (Ray) Mann; seven grandchildren, Michelle (Ray) Asher, Dee O’Hara, Anna O’Hara, Brad (Tricia) O’Hara, Mike (Jennifer) Mann, Stephanie O’Hara and Shawna O’Hara; nine great grandchildren, Sarah, Sam, Sierra, Jay, Lindsay, Mindy, Abby, Andrew and Mackenzie. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Shug O’Hara and siblings, Bill O’Hara, Bob O’Hara, Margaret O’Hara and Dorothy Duggins. Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, July 31, 2014 at the Colligan Funeral Home, 437 S 3rd St., Hamilton. Followed by burial with Military Honors in Butler County Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
