John P. Turco,81, of Fairfield, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Mercy Fairfield. He was born in Hamilton on December 15, 1929, the son of Anthony and Anna (Mugnolo) Turco. In 1947 he graduated from Hamilton Catholic High School. Pfc (T) Turco, U S Army served His country with honor during the Korean War. On November 29, 1969 he was united in marriage to Domenica ” Mickey” Cicero. John was a Kentucky Colonel, a member of the American Italian Society for 57 years and he enjoyed woodworking, coin collecting, antiquing, the casino, playing cards and horseracing. John owned and operated Johnny’s Midway Market and later was employed as a truck driver for Dyna-Con.He is survived by his son, John Turco who was John Sr.’s heart and soul; twin brother, Joseph (June) Turco; brother, Carl Turco: two sisters, Theresa Cicero and Mary (Gene) Barnes; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Domenica “Mickey” Turco and brother, James Turco. Prayers will be 9:15 AM Wednesday at the Colligan Funeral Home.Followed by Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM Wednesday at Sacred Heart Church.
