Joseph E “Boo” Winkler Sr., age 87 of Hamilton passed away Saturday, October 3, 2015. He was born in Hamilton on March 21, 1928, the son of Edward and Edna (Neff) Winkler. Boo was a 1947 graduate of Hamilton Catholic High School and had attended Xavier University on a football scholarship. On June 17, 1950, he was united in marriage to Juanita “Fritzie” Lawson. Boo was employed by various area foundaries, retiring from Hamilton Tool – Steves Graphics as a service engineer. He was a member of St. Peter In Chains Church, AMVETS Post 1983, Monkeys and the Knights of Columbus. Survivors include six children; five daughters, Jane Winkler, Peggy Lee – Cornett, Mary Umbstead, Barbara Winkler, and Susan (Kenneth) Gill and son, Joseph E. (Tina) Winkler Jr.; twelve grandchildren, Matt Lee, Mike (Tammi) Lee, Adam (Krystan) Cornett, Erin Cornett, Chris (Tracy) Umbstead, Jennifer Umbstead, Lindsey (Tony) Brown, Amanda Toth, Kimberly (Drew) Schroeder, Brandon (Kim) Gill, Tabitha Winkler and Jason Winkler and twelve great- grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents; wife of over 50 years, Juanita “Fritzie” Winkler; sisters, Corrine Vereker and Marcella Winkler; brothers, Maurice “Dick” Winkler and Harold Winkler. The Winkler Family wishes to thank the Doctors and Home Health Care who gave loving care to Boo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice. Prayer service will be 11:15 AM Thursday , October 8, 2015 at the funeral home followed by twelve noon Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter In Chains Church. Entombment in St. Stephen Mausoleum. Visitation will be at the Colligan Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM.
