Joseph A. Witham, age 90, of Hamilton, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2014. He was born in South Lebanon, Ohio on September 16, 1924, the son of Clifford J. and Mary Louise (Hamm) Witham. PFC Witham, US Army, served His country with honor during WW II (1943-1946). Joe was united in marriage to Dorothy Plyes and five children were born to this union. He had been employed at Square D for 18 years. During his younger years he had a passion for baseball. Later in life he became known as “Smokin Joe” while bowling with the Hamilton Bowling League. However, he also loved fishing and in general, the outdoors. Joe is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Witham; sons, Steve A. (Barb) Witham of Hamilton and Gerald Witham of Irving, Texas; daughters, Connie Jo (John) Brinkman of Hamilton and Trena (Larry) Wurzelbacher of Harrison, Indiana; 12 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and a devoted nephew, Dennis Witham. He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Witham in 1992; brothers, Donald, Harry and Roger Witham and a sister, Clara Witham.
