Lester L. Long III, age 66, of Hamilton, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2014 at University Hospital. Les was born in Hamilton on February 19, 1947, the son of Lester L. and Lulu M. (Cayse) Long Jr. He was a 1965 graduate of Garfield High School. Les was a valued employee of the City of Hamilton for 32 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the American Legion 138, Moose and the VFW 7670. A musician for over 50 years, Les played with Boots Randolph and was a warm up for The Beatles, Dick Clark and the Mr. Chris Show. Survivors include his wife, Patsy (Zimmers) Long; children, David Brian (Connie) Hopkins and Tammy Hopkins; grandchildren, Joey Hopkins, Leslie Hoelle, Bret Hoelle and Jerry Danner; great-grandchildren, Amiyah and Aidan Hopkins; sister Linda (Joe) Frederick, brother Lynn L. (Karen) Long, mother-in-law, Evelyn Zimmers, brother-in-law, Donald (Kim) Zimmers; sister-in-law, Debbie (Joe) Parker; nieces, nephews and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Les and Lu Long and two infant brothers, Lawrence L. and Louis L. Long. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 4 at the Colligan Funeral Home, 437 S 3rd Street from 10:00 AM until time of services at Twelve Noon. Burial in St. Stephen Cemetery.
