Marie (Lotta) Lawler, age 89, passed away December 17, 2011 at Fleur de Lis Group Home, Kennewick, Washington, where she was lovingly taken care of the last few months. She was born in Hamilton on November 6, 1922, the daughter of Tony and Antonia “Nina” (Palermo) Lotta. On February 12, 1944, she married Joseph V. Lawler and shortly they moved to Richland, Washington where they were pioneers on the Hanfort Project. Marie was proud of her profession as an accountant and was one of the first women to be promoted into management, where she worked until her retirement in 1982. As a 45-year survivor of breast cancer, she was an avid supporter of her local cancer center. During tax season she qualified as a volunteer tax consulant. Marie was recognized for her volunteer work and received many awards for philanthropy. Marie is survived by her brother, Tony Lotta and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tony and Nina Lotta, husband, Joe, brother, Joseph Lotta and sisters, Ann Lingler and Rose Altieri. A Memorial Mass will be held 10:30 AM, Friday, January 20, 2012 at St. Julie Billiart Church, 224 Dayton Street, Hamilton. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
