Martha Sadowski

SADOWSKI, Martha J. died at Hospice of Hamilton on Dec. 6, 2012. She was born at Mercy Hospital in Hamilton, the first child of the late Jack and Evelyn (Rosenfelder) Hazlett.

She graduated from Hamilton High School Class of 1945 then graduated from Christ Hospital School of Nursing in 1948 with her Nursing degree. She went to work for Mercy Hospital in Hamilton until retiring in 1992. She met Ed Sadowski and they were united in marriage at St. Joseph Church in 1949.. To this union were born four daughters. Her retiring years were enjoyed with her family and knitting caps for the newborns at Mercy Hospital in Fairfield and students at Jefferson School in Hamilton. Martha was also a participant in the Nurses Health Study at Harvard Medical School at Brigham Women’s Hospital from 1976-2012.

She is survived by her daughters Marti Tobergte, Linda (Joe) Schueler and Donna Sadowski-Blakley; brothers: Joe (Nancy) and Jim Hazlett; sister-in-law: Helen Moore; 8 grandchildren: Patti (Dennis) Wilson, Joe (Jennifer) Tobergte, Melissa (Norman) Willis, Jodi (Todd) Rhoads, Cindi (Mike) Ongkiko, Joe (Ginny) Schueler, Traci Canter, Michael (Vicki) Blakley; and 16 great grandchildren: Emory and Evlin Tobergte, Ashtyn, Adriel and Adriana Willis, Cayden and Kyndall Rhoads, Max, Brooklyn and Benjamin Ongkiko, Nathan Schueler, Matthew, Duncan, Alana and Jace Canter and Kiley Blakley. Martha was preceded in death by her husband Ed, daughter Patti, a sister Mary Caudill and great grandson Tyler Fisher.

Visitation will be on Monday, December 10, 2012 from 10 AM to 11 AM at Colligan Funeral Home, 437 South 3rd Street, HO 45011. Mass of Christian Burial to follow in St. Joseph Church , 171 Washington St., at 11:30 AM.
