Martin Protzman

July 27, 1946 — July 20, 2013

Martin D. “Marty” Protzman, age 66, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013. He was born in Hamilton on July 27, 1946, the son of Stanley and Ruby (Craycraft) Protzman. He was a 1964 graduate of Taft High School. Sgt (T) Protzman, US Army, served His country with honor from January 21, 1966 to December 6, 1968 with the 101st Airborn Division. During his tour in Vietnam, Marty lost his right foot. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Parachute Badge, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Marksman (Rifle M14). Marty received his Masters Degree in Education from Miami University of Oxford, began his teaching career in 1973 at Hamilton High School where he also served as golf coach for 10 years, retiring in October of 2002. He is survived by his son, Doug Protzman; daughter, Jill Protzman; grandchildren, Lucy, Peyton and Vinny Protzman and siblings, Joetta Blower, John Protzman, Darlene Martin and Janet Fields. He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother, Mickey Protzman and brother, Stanley “Bud” Protzman. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2013 from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM at Twin Run Golf Course Club House, 2505 Eaton Road, Hamilton.
