Mary Jeanne Reimer, 62, beloved wife of Charles H. Bauer, passed away Friday, February 2, 2018 after a long battle with cancer. She leaves her husband of 27 years, stepdaughter, Wendy Bauer Wright (Tim), stepson, Andrew Bauer, step-grandchildren, Ethan Bauer, David Weber, Britney Weber and Lindsey Wright, step great- grandchildren, Brayden Weber and Kiley Anderson, brother, Donald H. Reimer (Claudia), brother-in-law, Fred Bauer, nieces, Emily Reimer, Karen Reimer Gibbs (Gabe) and Kristy Cochran and great-nephews, Landon and Alexander Gibbs. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald A. Reimer and mother, Jeanne Hart Reimer. In addition to family, she will be missed by her loyal staff at the GBR Group, many cousins and dear friends, especially lifelong friend, Katie (Lodder) Carpenter, high school friend, Cindee (Rigling) Walsh and college roommate, Joan (Skarnulis) Walsh. Mary graduated from Badin High School in 1974 and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy from the University of Notre Dame in 1978. She remained a proud ND alumnus throughout her life, often returning to campus to attend football games with college friends. She was also a fan of University of Cincinnati basketball. A Certified Public Accountant, Mary practiced in Hamilton for 40 years serving many loyal clients, with whom she often became friends, and was a partner in the GBR Group. Mary was mentored in business by her father, also a CPA, with whom she worked until his retirement. She was active in promoting the accounting profession serving a term on the Ohio Board of Accountancy and the Executive Board of the Certified Public Accountants. She was inducted into the Butler County Hall of Fame in 2010. A lifelong resident of Hamilton, Mary loved her hometown and was passionate about making Hamilton a better community, spending many hours working on civic activities. She was a leader in the city serving as Hamilton Rotary President, Hamilton Community Foundation Chair, Greater Hamilton Chamber of Commerce Chair as well as on the Lane Library Board. She also participated on advisory committees for Badin and Hamilton High Schools, Miami University, Junior Achievement, Vision 2020 and volunteered for countless other community activities. In addition, Mary and her husband were volunteers for many years at the Ronald McDonald House of Greater Cincinnati. The family would like to thank caregivers from Colonial at Home, Home Instead and Homewatch Caregivers who assisted Mary during her illness. A special thank you to Katie Carpenter, who cared for Mary as a friend and nurse throughout her illness and longterm caregiver, Pat Menchen. Visitation will be at Queen of Peace Church, Hamilton, Ohio on Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 9:30 AM til time of a Memorial Mass at 11:00 AM.
