Beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend was born in Somerville,Ohio on November 11, 1937, Mary Thelma Strunks. Mary lived in Sandusky, Ohio for most of her life, working at the Chrysler plant in that city. Mary was the plant steward for the UAW when she retired. Mary is survived by her brother , John; sons, Richard (Theresa), James (Kim), Curtis (Kathy), John (Delores) and Frank; daughter, Cynthia (Ron); many grandchildren and great grandchildren; many other family members and friends who have fond memories. Mary was very much in love with her husband, Bill, who went on ahead in 2012. Others preceding her in death were her parents, John and Mary and sisters, Faith (Scottie) and Ellen. Mary touched many people in her time here. She always had time to chat or pass on a friendly word – whether she knew you or not. She was born with a wonderful sense of humor, having been known at times to answer the phone “Joe’s Pool Hall. 8 ball speaking.” Mary had a serious side as well. She wrote poetry and short stories like her mother and like her, had some published including a poem she wrote for one of her sons called “A Marine.” Mary spent 79 years, 10 months and 15 days with us, her last being September 26, 2017. Her mother wrote her this poem called “Two Dollars Please” to show how much she was loved.
Your darling may cost a thousand today,
And worth every cent of it maybe,
I envy you not, for you’ll never have one
to compare to my two dollar baby.
Yours may grow up tall, handsome
and brave,
or a new Miss America maybe,
Yet I would turn down the lot before
I would part
with my own two dollar baby.
She is loving and kind, she is jolly and sweet
and feisty – a wee trifle – maybe,
takes after her mother ? so whats wrong
with that
In a wonderful two dollar baby ?
And I know God loves me a
whale of a lot;
no ifs, not a but or a maybe
For though He’s good to all
moms and to all dads
He’s given me a two dollar baby.
We will miss you Two Dollar Girl
