Nazaire Plapp died peacefully on February 4, 2012 with her son at her bedside. Known to many as “Sis”, she was born on January 12, 1922 in Hamilton, Ohio to Paul and Norma Wellinghoff. She married Fredrick Plapp on October 22, 1941 and he preceded her in death in 1992. She was a life long Catholic and most recently a member of St. Peter in Chains Church. Nazaire lived in Hamilton for 90 years. Many people in the community will remember her from the business she co-owned with her husband, Highland Dairy, a family business for 52 years with retail stores throughout the greater Hamilton and Fairfield area. She touched the lives of many people who enjoyed warm summer evenings with ice cream and dairy products that they made with care. She is survived by her son, Stephen Plapp of Cincinnati, Ohio and wife, Kathy; daughter, Barbara Plapp Tripoli Of Cary, North Carolina and her husband Philip; brothers, Paul Wellinghoff, John Wellinghoff, Arnold Wellinghoff and Louis Wellinghoff and sister, Jeanette Mayer. She has five grandchildren, Chris Keller, Louis Plapp, Philip Tripoli, Jennifer Tripoli and Rachel Jefferies and several great grandchildren. Her daughters, Shirley Jefferies and Kathleen Plapp and brother Art Wellinghoff preceded Nazaire in death. At her request, there will be no visitation, however, friends are invited to attend Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM, Thursday, February 9th at Schroder Manor Chapel.
