Stephen F. Plapp, of Springdale, passed away at Hospice of Blue Ash, on Wednesday April 3, 2024 at the age of 81. Stephen was born in Hamilton to Fredrick and Nazaire (nee Wellinghoff) Plapp on August 10, 1942. He graduated in 1960 from Garfield High School. After graduation he entered into the US Airforce to serve his country from 1960 to 1963 and was a reservist until 1965. Stephen married Melanie Reeb on August 28, 1970 and they were blessed with a son Stephen Louis Plapp. Stephen worked as a salesman for many years and when his wife was sick they moved to Arizona to be closer to her family. He had a hard time finding a job that would cover her illness and he ended up responding to a job opening for Miami Valley Hospice. He took the job and became a CNA. He enjoyed his work and Stephen became friends with many families he cared for over the years. After his wife Melanie died in 1999 he was having a hard time. A co-worker and friend told him that she had a friend that lost her husband four years ago and it might be good for him to talk with someone. He said no but later he asked for the phone number... little did he know that a year after meeting Kathleen Leicht Obermeyer, on January 13, 2001, they would be married and blend their families over their next 23 years of marriage. Stephen was a family man and loved to take his son and grandchildren on adventures.. anything aviation related. He went weekly to the Butler County airport and was a guide at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton. He also enjoyed taking them camping and going to Holiday World amusement park. His generosity shone through his 25 years of volunteer work with St. Vincent De Paul and contributions to St. Clare's Catholic Church.
