Vera Sackenheim

Please place obit in next edition of Hamilton Journal ———–SACKENHEIM, Vera L. “Sock”, age 82, of Hamilton, passed away Monday, September 7, 2009 at Hospice of Hamilton. She was born in Hamilton on November 30, 1926, the daughter of George D. and Leona (Green) Sackenheim. Sock had been employed at Milillo’s Bakery, Champion Paper, became a licensed beautician and retired from the Bakery and Dietary Dept. of Ft. Hamilton Hospital. She freely volunteered her time at several local facilities including Westover, Sunrise, Schroder Manor and St. Peter In Chains Church. She sang in both St. Peter In Chains Choir and St. Julie Billiart Choir and was a member of the Harmonettes. Sock enjoyed bowling and travelling with her friends. Survivors include two brothers; William (Theresa) Sackenheim and Martin (Erma) Sackenheim; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Richard, Robert and Sherman Sackenheim; four sisters, Dorothy Leeds, Catherine Gallagher, Esther Harnish and Gloria Hesse; other family members and a very dear friend, Eileen Kelley. There will be no visitation. Friends are invited to attend Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM Saturday, September 12, 2009 at St. Peter In Chains Catholic Church. Entombent will follow at St. Stephen Cemetery Mausoleum.
