Virginia “Sula” Rikas, 82, of Hamilton, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2011. She was born in Hamilton on August 24, 1928, the daughter of John and Virginia (Janetos) Lazares and step- mother, Katina (Rakintzas) Lazares. Sula was a 1946 graduate of Hamilton High School. On June 14, 1952 she was united in marriage to Harry Philip Rikas. Mrs. Rikas was a member of Sts. Constatine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for seven years; the Philoptochos Society and the Daughters of Penelope. Survived by son, Philip (Lynda) Rikas; daughters, Katina E.Rikas and Maria Rikas Moser; granddaughters Katherine and Jennifer Rikas; grandsons, Brian and Alex Moser; cousin, George P. Janetos; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents; husband of 32 years, Harry in 1985; brothers, Gus J. Lazares and sisters, Bertha Agas, Georgia L. Sempeles and Adriana L. Pizanis. Funeral Service will be 10:00 AM Saturday, May 28, 2011 at the Colligan Funeral Home. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be this evening (Friday) at the funeral home from 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Sts. Constatine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Middletown, Ohio or The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, University of Cincinnati, in honor of Dr. Harvey C. Knowles in memory of Virginia.
