Rita Briede Menchen, age 93, passed away 5:24 AM, Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Golden Years Nursing Center. She was born on June 8, 1918, in Hamilton, to Albert and Frieda (Bauermeister) Briede. On April 18, 1942 she was united in marriage to Paul H. “Slip” Menchen. Rita was a charter member of the Hamilton Dog Training Club. Survived by her children; Martha (John) Sackenheim, Sarah (Dan) Mahlerwein and Linda Menchen; grandchildren, Philip (Missy) Sackenheim and Dawn Frank; great-grandchildren, Megan and Brett Sackenheim; sister, Helen O’Donohoe; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Briede and Rosemarie (Glen) Truster. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul H. “Slip” Menchen; brothers, Richard, Mark, James and Donald Briede and sisters, Joan Bodner and Naomi Weldon. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM Friday, July 1, 2011 at Queen of Peace Church followed by entombment in St. Stephen Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday at the Colligan Funeral Home from 5:00 – 7::00 PM.
