Velma L. Carcaterra, 90, of Fairfield Twp., passed away at Mercy Hospital of Fairfield on Thursday, September 29, 2016. The daughter of John and Alvina Gillum was born in Hamilton on April 5, 1926. Survivors include her husband, Frank J. Carcaterra; children, Karen Philabaum, Cheryl Hartmann, Frank (Jean) Carcaterra and Tina Carcaterra; grandchildren, Kristie (Chris) Littler, Joseph Hartmann, Gina Carcaterra and Katie Carcaterra; greatgrandchildren, Destiney Carcaterra and Landon Lake and various nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. John and Alvina; brothers, John and Edward Gillum and sisters, Rose Smith and Mary Madden. Velma and Frank celebrated their 70th wedding Anniversary on September 28, 2016. Visitation will be Monday, October 3, 2016 at St. Julie Billiart Church from 1:30 PM til time of Mass of Christian Burial at 2:30 PM. Entombment in Rose Hill Burial Park. Donations may be directed to Hospice of Southwest Ohio or to the Alzheimers Association of Greater Cincinnati.
